*– VIDEO INTRODUCTION –*

This playthrough shows:

• a no-death run of the first and second loop.

After completing four stages, the game will loop back to the first stage, but at a higher difficulty level.

A "secret" letter appears after each stage. In order, the letters are E, R, A, W, T, F, O and S. When read backwards – as indicated in the instruction manual – the letters form the code word "SOFTWARE". This word was required for a promotional campaign during the game's initial release.

The timestamps for each stage can be found at the bottom of the video description box.

English Translation
Released By: Psyklax
Patch Version: 1.0

The game is modified with a translation patch. Since most of _Ikki_ is already in English, it only replaces the Japanese title with an English transliteration. The patch can be downloaded from ROMhacking.net at – [http://www.romhacking.net/translations/3055/].

*– GAME OVERVIEW –*

_Ikki_ for the Famicom is an overhead shoot 'em up (shmup). It was ported by Tose and published by Sunsoft. The game was released in Japan on November 28, 1985.

Sunsoft is the video game division of electronics manufacturer Sun Electronics Corporation (now Sun Corporation).

This version has also been made available for the Nintendo Virtual Console (VC) service, viz.:
- Wii – Region: Japan – Release Date: January 16, 2007
- 3DS – Region: Japan – Release Date: February 13, 2013
- Wii U – Region: Japan – Release Date: May 22, 2013

• _Ikki_ began as a coin-operated video game for the Japanese arcade (AC) market. Developed and published by Sun Electronics Corporation, it was released in July 1985.
◦ In some regions, the game is known as _Farmers Rebellion._
◦ On May 22, 2015, and May 24, 2018, the arcade version was ported to the Sony PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Nintendo Switch (NSW), respectively, in Hamster's _Arcade Archives (ACA) (アーケードアーカイブス)_ series.

• _Ikki_ is set in medieval Japan, where a poor peasant village plans an uprising to overthrow their feudal lord.
◦ Being a comedic title, the only participants in the rebellion are the player character, Gonbe, and the optional second player, Tago, who fight against an army of ninja (instead of foot soldiers and samurai).

• The Famicom port of _Ikki_ was re-released on Microsoft Windows as part of the _Ultra 2000 Sunsoft Classic Games 2 (ULTRA2000 サンソフトクラシックゲームズ2)_ and _Yu-Yu: Sunsoft Masterpiece Selection 2 (遊遊 サンソフト傑作選2)_ compilations. It was also coupled with _Super Arabian (スーパーアラビアン)_ for the Sony PlayStation (PS) collection _Memorial Series: Sunsoft Vol. 1 (メモリアル☆シリーズ サンソフト Vol.1)._

• There have been two remakes of Ikki in Japan, viz.:
- a mobile phone application called _Ikki Mobile (いっき萌バイル)_ (2006);
- _Ikki Online (いっき おんらいん)_ (2010) – a downloadable title on the PlayStation Network (PSN) with an online mode.
◦ _Ikki Unite (いっき団結)_ – a supposed revival of the game – was released for PC on February 14, 2023.

• Jun Miura – a Japanese novelist, illustrator and manga artist – coined the term "kusoge" (crap game) after playing the Famicom version of _Ikki._
