The Lift Off Distance of a mouse is how high the sensor can track when you're lifting the mouse off the desk. We've generally measured it with DVDs but most mice are under 2.6mm (about 2 DVDs) and on the absolute best optical sensors it's below 1.6mm and even below 1mm.



The arguments I've seen have been that because the sensor keeps tracking the movement, people can't get their aim where it should be.

I've asked a few people to clarify but haven't received any concrete answers, so if you think you have a good argument against what I've said in the video, feel free to leave a comment!

Otherwise, hopefully this can finally put your mind at ease... you're not missing because of the lift off distance, it's most likely something else.
