Call of Duty has made quite an interesting announcement, the new upcoming CoD game is going to carry forward this years weapons, operators and skins. This means that everything that you have done in Modern Warfare 2 is going to still have value in the upcoming Modern Warfare 3.

I wonder if this is an indication of a larger change at play, where we will have a continously growing game, until the engine needs a major update and models can't be used across (or look significantly old at that point). But we do currently reside at the point where games and their models are already at an incredibly high-detail, so that might be a while.

Obviously carrying over Modern Warfare guns into lets say a World War 2 game would be strange, but as long as we stick in the modern era, this carry forward is set to make the biggest most content packed game potentially.

There are still a couple of unanswered questions, namely will maps carry forward in some way as well; because that would mean we'd have a lot of maps straight from the get go... But time will tell!
