Joe & Mac, alternatively recognized as Caveman Ninja and Caveman Ninja: Joe & Mac, emerged in 1991 as a vibrant platformer delivered to arcades courtesy of Data East. The game subsequently underwent adaptations for an array of platforms including the Super NES, Mega Drive/Genesis, Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, Amiga, Zeebo, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
The narrative unfolds around Joe, sporting a distinctive green mane, and his counterpart Mac, bedecked with striking blue hair. This caveman duo embarks on an adventure through a series of prehistoric levels, armed with an assortment of unconventional weaponry like boomerangs, bones, fire, flints, electricity, stone wheels, and clubs. Their mission revolves around rescuing a group of captive women, ensnared by an opposing tribe of cavemen.
Central to the gameplay is a health system that steadily depletes over time, excluding periods encompassing boss confrontations. Notably, a two-player mode is at players' disposal, and certain iterations permit both characters to inflict harm upon each other.
