JRPTea-Time: Turn-Based vs. Action Combat - Which is better for JRPGs & the games that get it right
In this episode of JRPTea-Time I tackle one of the most contentious subjects of all: Turn Based vs. Action Combat, & I also make a very cheery tea so we don't all get angry about it.

Turn-Based systems allow a better storytelling experience, that system lends itself very well to JRPGs. Action combat is a lot trickier to do for story-driven games and too often come down to spamming buttons and making sure you have good twitch reflexes.

Let's not kid ourselves, FFXV's combat was fundamentally flawed. It had very little interaction that actually mattered, an over-reliance on items which were too abundant and too powerful, holding circle and twitch reflexing square when you're prompted isn't a very good combat system. Square Enix needs to go back to the drawing board, or back to what they are actually really good at.
