1This is a mobile game that I picked up several years ago and I absolutely fell in love with it. I would play with it right before bed, in the dark with the sound way up and it reminded me of childhood and playing NES games. The music is obviously a lot better than 8 bit sound, but the visual are amazing and definitely give that feel.
Give this a try on the play store, I cannot recommend it enough. And it's free. It's got that dark souls esque style of difficulty. Once you die, you die, you cannot come back. (mostly) The layout of the game is simple, create your character, pick a room, either clear it or die. If you clear it, move on and repeat. It's pretty addicting honestly.
