The best way to describe HLD (Hyper Light Drifter) is the marriage between Link To The Past and Dark Souls. This game is a 2d overhead style action RPG that is light on hand-holding and heavy on action gameplay. Once I fought the first enemy, I realized that I was always needing to be careful in battles. The game does a great job of giving challenges that are tough but doable, and death is not punished too strongly (you are sent back to the beginning of the area). Let's not forget that even as this game delivers so much on just the gameplay, it also has a wonderful art style and a story that is all told through visuals.
I am loving this game so far and can't wait to dig into this game more for part 2!
