Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, the hybrid of Explorers of Time/Darkness. I remember when I bought this game back in 2009. Deciding between the new Platinum game that I had yet to play, HeartGold, the remake of my favorite game in the series, and this game. I found myself choosing this game, hoping that it wouldn't disappoint. And I most certainly was pleased when I played it for the first time. You and a memorable partner, traveling in grid-like areas, trying to find the stairs that would take you to the next level until you finally reached the end of the dungeon. Along the way, battling Pokemon in familiar style similar to the mainstream RPGs. This game rocks. Nearly every aspect of this game is incredible, and the feels of exploration are extremely fun. It can get tedious at times. Like speed boosting moves that can allow Pokemon to attack however many times they like. And annoying as all hell Pokemon with moves that affect the whole room, such as discharge, a quick bird to the porygons in Temporal Tower. And how attacks can sometimes keep missing over and over again which gets really fucking annoying. And the fact that some dungeons go on for a fucking eternity, and how theoretically the game itself feels like it will NEVER FUCKING END. Seriously, this is the first longplay I've split due to sheer length. It'll be a regular thing now, with HD longplays hopefully in the making but damn, this game drags at some points. The graphics aren't too thrilling, but graphics don't really matter if you really enjoy the game anyway. Nobody should really get scared away by games just because they look terrible. Ocarina of Time looks like shit by today's standards, but its still played because of how much people love and enjoy it, same scenario here. But I Digress. Memorable and infamous characters are introduced in this game, the gameplay is for the most part fun, the soundtrack is incredible, and the story is incredible. Albeit the time travel bullshit creating paradoxes. Honestly, at the end of the main storyline after Temporal Tower, I don't know a single person that didn't shed a tear after the player vanished. This game was woven together beautifully, and while it is a pretty big game to begin with, the amount of bonus content and after game extras is extravagant. Special Episodes, new dungeons to explore afterwards, its the game that keeps giving, so people who really love this game can dig in. I didn't think much of Red/Blue Rescue Team when I saw them, so this was my first Mystery Dungeon title, and it's truly a gem.
