Making our way deep into the Imperial Palace, the final floor is pretty much made up of a bunch of random rooms, including prison cells, around the central area with Jagar Tharn. I am not really sure where this is supposed to be in the Palace or why there are cells here as well as the start of the game, while still looking entirely different, but we push forward regardless of all of that.

If the rest of the game was painful, this is sheer torture. The entire floor is filled to the brim with Liches. While they have been used as a pretty rare being up to this point, this floor has it so that pretty much every enemy we encounter will be a Lich. My ability to paralyze enemies really shines here, especially when I find Resist Shock to be entirely useless. At least Resist Fire allows me to swim in Lava.

In any event, we eventually make it to the epic confrontation against Jagar Tharn. He growls like a Fire Daemon and is appears invulnerable to my attacks. Deciding to explore the nearby rooms first, I paralyze him and wander aimlessly into the various prison cells to pick up treasure I don't need. Next thing I know, Jagar Tharn is yelling how I found the source of his power and his face is melting. Suddenly we see Jagar Tharn's staff floating in midair and the king appears out of some random bowl that didn't exist until that particular moment. Ricky keeps getting called the Eternal Champion by the king, some rank he just made up which gives Ricky Empire stuff. Probably a signed autograph of the King and pardon for randomly wandering through his entire palace before trying to steal from his most guarded rooms. Then we see the picture from the beginning of the game that tells us to stay tuned for Elder Scrolls Daggerfall. Oh, then the game ends with a final "Insufficient Base Memory", probably the most fitting way to end Elder Scrolls Arena. So, yeah, we get lots of random Deus Ex Machina where I have no idea what is going on, then get told to play Daggerfall before the game crashes (I do check to make sure that nothing else actually occurs, we basically just get dumped back in town with absolutely nothing to do). Gotta love Arena.

I also do some additional bits as I look online and actually find out about stuff that we didn't know while we were playing the game. First and foremost, that random object was told to us by Ria Silmane in a cutscene that never plays, then she sacrifices her life or something; it was interesting to think that she just faded out of existence before we got that final piece though. We also lack some weird 3d effect part in the cutscene for whatever reason. There is also a missing part in the CD version where the guard commander talks, because what we needed was more people saying stuff.

We also learn we can kill Jagar Tharn, so I go back and do that in two ways, one with Firestorm and one with my Bare Hands (the fastest way to kill him) after finding out he is only invulnerable to swords for some reason. He gives us a random potion and a dagger, also known as the cheapest object in the game, plus potions only sell for 1 gold. His death was worth a total of two gold. We got more for killing random Goblins at the start of the game. In any event, he also gets encased in some weird bubble when he dies which is pretty much a corpse but isn't really a corpse since he doesn't die until the cutscene. So basically you can fight and kill him, but it does absolutely nothing and I am not sure if this was even the intended route.

Oh, yeah, we also find out that we went the entire game without going after any of the really powerful equipment we didn't know about, specifically something known as an Artifact. I try to ask people where to get them, only to forget where I need to go, and then end up blundering around and not getting anywhere. How anybody figures out how to get these without a guide is beyond me.

Oh, we also try to reenter the palace where we are told that we must wait for the next game or whatever when they have fixed the damage from the epic final battle that never happened. What exactly do you mean by "catastrophic forces unleashed during the final conflict?" Things looked pretty stable when I talked to the king. Something tells me they are just trying to get rid of Ricky, knowing he would waste another video wandering around aimlessly in their palace and attacking various things. The lesson here kids is to enter every room and try to steal treasure, you never know when that may accidentally melt the face off an evil Battlemage.
