Let's Play World In Conflict: Soviet Assault - Episode 22 [FINALE]
15In 2015, I did an LP on one of my favorite RTS games of all time. World in Conflict. At that time I said that I would at some point do an LP on the game's expansion pack, Soviet Assault. However, do to multiple complications, I've had to postpone the LP for years. Now, the time has finally come to get around to it.
Originally, I planned on only recording the new Soviet missions and uploading them as the LP. However, do to how much time that has passed since my World in Conflict Let's Play, I decided to just replay the entire game, USA missions included.
So, what does World in Conflict: Soviet Assault provide that's new? Well, the main event is the addition of multiple new missions from the Soviet's point of view. Where you play as Romanov, a USSR Lieutenant, who plays a big part in the Soviet invasion. Alongside other prominent characters, such as Colonel Vladimir Orlovsky, and Captain Malashenko. You will fight in Europe as well as the United States through out the Russian campaign. This gives players the opportunity to play with Soviet units and see the war from the opposite fighting side.
On the off chance you're coming to this LP before the original World in Conflict LP instead, here's what this game is all about. In the late 1980's, the Russians launch a large scale invasion against various European countries. As well as the United States. Leading the start of World War 3. In this Real Time Strategy game, you'll take command of American and Soviet units such as infantry, tanks, and other armored/support units, in an effort to push back enemy lines, take down strategic positions, or fall back and defend. At the same time, you'll have access to fire support & allies to fall back on if need be. The game is very well written with memorable characters and tear jerking moments. It's also a fairly lengthy game compared to most other RTS'.
***NOTE***
Normally, I post a link around this section, with a location to purchase the game on Steam. However, unfortunately, due the fact that game has lost support and the development team was both shut down/moved on, the game and its sequel expansion have since been removed from Steam. You can still buy the hard disc version and find it on websites though. If you can, I definitely recommend getting your hands on this classic. One of the best RTS games to ever be created.
Hopefully someday, World in Conflict sees the light of day again....
