For a game where 70% of it is music, the music is extremely subpar and not enjoyable to listen to. Rez was techno, this was trance? The visuals, while vibrant, felt like they should have been a little sharper, shaded, rezzed, better? The gameplay was frustrating while having to juggle two firing types, not as fun or enjoyable. For an on rails shooter I found myself fighting the camera while trying to keep track of incoming fire. After finishing the second level I had to already grind the first two levels to get enough stars to play the next, a very bad omen of things to come. Later levels are trial and error with learning enemy and level patterns. Considering the fact that you have to restart a whole level if you die, no continues ,checkpoints, or lives, you don't get any points for the time played if you fail a level. That's my definition of a waste of time. I didn't even bother to unlock anything after I failed the fourth song for the third time. I definitely didn't want to replay any of the other levels for the umpteenth time to get extra stars because I found to music so irritating. The only good thing that came out of this experience was that it rekindle my love for Rez.

Rez PS2 8 2001 Great visuals and music. Awesome on rail shooter.
