Ryu's stage is very easy with just a bit of practice and planning. Ryu, on the other hand, is a horrible luck based nightmare. There are so many ways that Ryu can simply end your run. The main cause of this luck based difficulty is actually what at first appears to be his least threatening move, Shoryuken. This move is the only way that Ryu can move anything that isn't a multiple of half of the screen, moving a quarter of the screen per Shoryuken. This means that if he uses a Shoryuken from the center of the room, which I found to happen much more often than you would expect, you will be cornered by Ryu. When this close to Ryu, much of what he can do is simply to quick to react to, and so you essentially just have to panic and guess and hope you survive. Even more luck stems from his Super Combo, Metsu Hadoken, a move that simply allows Ryu to decide your fate, in my experience creating essentially impossible situations more often than not. Even beyond these, there are more sources of luck involving his movement, in particular his fast Tatsumaki Senpukyaku, as well as quick reactions required even when you aren't cornered that make the fight even more difficult. Add all this to the fact that Ryu is extremely hard to hit due to Tatsumaki Senpukyaku making him invincible and his Shakunetsu Hadoken and Metsu Hadoken acting as shields and the fight lasts a very long time unless you are very lucky, meaning the odds of him simply deciding to end you increase. This run ends up being very close to a perfect 10 in difficulty, but I ended up just shy of giving it the honor. It's a miracle they made the odd decision to make Ryu take an average of 1.5 damage per uncharged Mega Buster shot, otherwise this run would certainly have been a very strong 10.
