Mickey Mania (Sega CD/Genesis) - Part 1
0The ongoing tradition around here is that before I head off to Disney for family reasons I usually stream some kind of retro Disney game. Here we have Mickey Mania from Traveler's Tales. We begin on the Sega CD version before moving over to the original Genesis one. It's a platformer but I find its design to be overly rude and unpleasant. Not broken like in Fantasia. This one is just built to kind of frustrate the player.
Things on global cycles that don't line up. Lots of gotcha hits from random shit falling. Dudes sniping you from off screen. Hitboxes not being in your favor so even the mere act of jumping on a character feels bad and inconsistent. I feel bad cause I had a few chatters and I'm sure a few of you may have grown up loving this title. There's lots to love here from the gorgeous sprite work and animation, to the music and unique levels. Sadly I wasn't able to complete this one that day.
