So yeah! As mentioned in the description for my 26.256 Lap 1, a 1:18.7 was my final target before the end of the year. Despite this run's poor driving and multiple errors, it was just good enough to achieve that!
As I am pretty certain everyone now knows, 2018 has pretty much been the year of MC3 grinding for me (-May because Concord Town). In fact, it has already been over a year since I returned to the track using Funky Kong. So it's probably been my best year of progress so far!
Throughout the time I have been grinding with Daisy, I have constantly been switching between successful pessimism and unsuccessful optimism. influenced by both things to do with the game and irl. Come late November/early December time, I started witnessing my first epidemic of realising how old I actually was, and how quickly time has seamlessly gone by. Ironically, this is when my MC3 sessions started to pick up pace again since August!
Not too long after my Birthday, I started pulling 1:18 times again. Gradually as the weeks progressed, they started to happen more frequently. When this time trial session came around, I pulled nothing but 1:18s, and thought nothing on them. Which I personally find amusing because 2 years ago I was dying for a 1:18. Then of course out of nowhere, the game launches this 1:18.7 on me! And I didn't even notice until I finished the run.
Like my 1:18.960 time set using Funky, I wasn't expecting this time to become anything too important. I had no nerves for the entire thing! I sort of just zoned and drove it subconsciously. It wasn't until after I crossed the line I got a huge adrenaline rush after seeing how fast my run actually was. It was a feeling I have not witnessed for a very long time!
There is no doubt that this is improvable, I have had runs and fails that were on so much of a better pace! My former PB before this was a 1:18.854 (https://youtu.be/7rF7MHza1oY) which had 2 26.2s Laps 1 and 2. If I drove like I did in this PB for Lap 3 in that run I may have even come out with a .6!
My BLS now give 1:18.498, which is something I thought would never be my potential. It's also weird to think that I have been ahead of ever ghost in my collection except Luke and Jascha. I'd still like to get UK Tops here, which I hope to finally get done some time next year. But for now I'll be taking a little break from MKWii until after Christmas.
