Mobile Suit Gundam: Target in Sight - [ Playstation 3 ] - Intro & Gameplay
And so the wheel must inexorably turn once again.
Thus I present to you all,
Mobile Suit Gundam: Target in Sight
Target in Sight, also known as Crossfire in America is perhaps one of the more divisive Gundam games out there. Inside, lurks a really good game but it's marred by Bandai's poor business decisions. As I've been told, in Japan it's considered something of status to work on a Gundam game therefore Bandai loves hiring out-of-game design school students for a quick project with the express intention of "It doesn't matter if it's good or bad, people will buy it because Gundam." They're given a deadline and that's it. Games either get finished or suffer.
Unfortunately, Target in Sight suffered because of it.
On launch, it was extremely choppy and even here using emulation you can witness it's choppiness but it still runs a heck a lot better than on native hardware. The game is pretty interesting in my opinion for having weapons that actually feels far more dangerous than your normal Gundam game, and you have targeted damage zones like in the famous Mechwarrior / Battletech series meaning you can destroy arms, heads, legs etc. This lends itself to having strategic value if you're clever.
Unfortunately because of the game's shortcomings, you can't always take advantage of this.
Guntank seems to suffer here in this game... Or at least the stage I played with it on.
However, because of it's more interesting mechanics and the fact that it takes place during the One Year War, I do recommend this game.
Do as I did, and get it off Ebay or Scandinavian equivalent Tradera.
