The MK Conquest series that I caught some nights before bed as a kid back in the late 90's was goofy as hell in a number of ways, but it was highly entertaining. I still stand by my love for its surprisingly dark and effective series finale.

The only gripes I have with this entire scene is that I find it weird that Shao Kahn kept Kung Lao's pants, of all items, as a memoir to his demise (couldn't have been his trademark hat?), and the way in which Shao Kahn said "to ... me" when demanding Raiden bow to him was a little too preening in tone for a warlord character who's been yelling at and intimidating everyone all series up until now. I actually thought the stock footage from a terrible movie like MK: Annihilation was put to good use here to quickly show how Kahn's victory resulted in the entire Earthrealm being hopelessly screwed, and the abandoned medallion Kung Lao used to wear as the MK tournament's champion made for a great final shot.

Fun fact: Shao Kahn and Raiden were both played by the same actor, Jeff Meek, and he almost always did a great, over the top job as both throughout the series.
