Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks is an adventure game that tells the events of Mortal Kombat II, starting with the outcome of the tournament that took place in the first Mortal Kombat. The game's main characters are two members of the Shaolin order, Liu Kang and Kung Lao, and portrays the duo's fight in Outworld against the plans of the sorcerer Shang Tsung and emperor Shao Kahn.
Shaolin Monks features a multi-directional combat system, which gives players the ability to attack any enemy that surrounds them fluidly. It is still possible to perform combos against several opponents and even continue them after launching the enemy into the air with powerful attacks or throws. The protagonists use different moves from previous games and can become stronger by gaining experience points. The environment plays a vital role in the game, as different threats can eliminate enemies automatically.
Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks is a beat 'em up action-adventure video game and a spin-off of the Mortal Kombat series of fighting games. It was released in 2005. The game is not part of the original series of fighting games, but is considered by the series' creator, Ed Boon, to be a more complete beginning to the series' history and the definitive version of the events that occurred between the first two games. of the series, which can be considered a tiny reboot.
