My art drawing: - geoXplo - done in color pencil + [science, nuclear, environment]
The title of this drawing stands for 'Geological Explorer' and in it are 2 scientists 🥼 The one in our 1st point of view is carrying what is called a 'dosimeter', which is a radiation measuring device. It currently reads 'safe'. So they are careful where to tred on the ground in front of them as to not step into any radiation contaminated zones. They are conducting environmental field work near the site.
The scientist which we see is wearing a radiation protection suit and we are in a forest approaching a nuclear power plant.
Actually this drawing is inspired after the happenings of Chernobyl. I watched the series on HBO 2 years ago and after a while forgot about the whole thing 😄 but I finally got around to do this piece of artwork eventually because I have planned it from before.
I knew it would take me a pretty long time because of the amount of detail and lighting. I drew this composition entirely out of my head and straight onto the paper but I did look at some dosimeters because I didn't really know what they looked like up close, I only had a slight idea before but it was never really clear.
Well so here it is. I won't talk so much about it anymore but I'd also like to mention that I put up in the tree here 2 eggs 🥚🥚 in a nest which symbolize hope and a continuation of life after that disaster of 1986 as nature reclaimed the space and there is some desire therefore of returning to normalcy but it will not be for the humans anytime soon, only for the animals and nature surrounding that place which it happily repopulated (2021)
