I heard about the new live action series hoping to premier in 2010. Suffice it to say, I dont have high hopes for it, unless they do something epic like get jar jar in the face with a blaster carbine!
Here is a few reasons why it will probably suck!
1. Star Wars films havn't been good since the 80's. Yes I know Revenge of the Sith was above average but it didn't make up for the crap that surrounded the 10 or so minutes of good footage in the previous 2 films of that trilogy.
2. The first series (season) will be directed by none other than Mr. Lucas himself.
3. The series as a whole will be set between episodes III and IV. Which means it will probably forget or disown any already established canon in the EU. We'll probably get another story of how the death star plans got to the Tantive IV. Because between Kyle Katarn, Crix Madine and 'Vaders Fist' I really dont know how Leia got hold of them!
4. It will be much more "darker and grittier" than the films. Oh Yay! (sarcasm) Another sci fi series that feels the need to make every character a tormented soul! Yeah I loved Ronald Moore's remake of BSG but please Lucas it has been done, can't you think of something original for a change?
5. It may run 400 episodes. Fuck me, man! 400! That is over 20 years of star wars. (assuming 20-25 episodes a season, not accounting for writers strikes and apocalyptic random disasters) Sorry I just assumed we would be getting a proper tv series not another daytime soap!
