My Mother Told Me | Assassin's Creed Valhalla [ Song of the Vikings ]
Welcome to my rendition of the captivating song, 'My Mother Told Me', also known as 'Song of the Vikings'.
First of all, let me clarify that I used Rachel Hardy's audio to create this other one on my own. Therefore, the video is not a result of a collaboration. I added my vocals and drums to her version she had made and produced. You can find the link to Rachel Hardy's original video on the video end screen along with a link to her YouTube channel as well. Nonetheless, it is also important to emphasize that Rachel Hardy allowed me to keep the video public on my YouTube channel.
This version is a unique blend of Rachel Hardy's beautiful interpretation and my own personal touch. I've added my vocals to harmonize with Rachel's, creating a rich, layered sound that I hope you'll enjoy. To add depth and rhythm, I've also incorporated drum tracks that sync perfectly with the melody.
The song 'My Mother Told Me' is a famous ancient Norse Skaldic poem from the Saga of Egil Skallagrimson, which was written around the 12th century. The poem is located in Chapter 40 in the Saga. The popular English version used in the songs all over social media is different than any of the actual translations of the Old Norse. The lyrics depict a mother's advice to her son, encouraging him to venture out, explore distant shores, and face challenges head-on. This song, with its roots in the Viking Age, resonates with the spirit of exploration and adventure.
The visualizer for this video is from the stunning cinematics of 'Assassin's Creed Valhalla', reflecting the song's Nordic roots and enhancing the overall listening experience.
Join me on this musical journey as we explore the haunting beauty of 'My Mother Told Me' and delve into its rich historical context. Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe if you enjoy the video!

LYRICS
My mother told me
Someday I will buy
Galley with good oars
Sail to distant shores
Stand up on the prow
Noble barque I steer
Steady course to the haven
Hew many foe-men
Hew many foe-men
