Voice actor Harald Gjerde reprises his role as Malus after over 20 years, but with a twist! Since he is no longer 11 years old, he won’t be reciting the lines of Malus as a child, rather he’ll be reciting lines from the adult form of Malus when he transforms into Dracula.

This is currently the second Castlevania 64 voice actor I’ve managed to work with, and definitely the most interesting so far given the circumstances. I’m honestly surprised I was able to find any of the voice actors who have been a part of Castlevania 64 since most of them either moved on from voice acting, or are in completely different professions entirely.
Luckily Harald was kind enough to take time out of his day to bring life to this character. Castlevania 64 was my childhood game, and my first Castlevania game on top of that, so being able to work with him on this was nothing short of amazing.

I really like his interpretation of the character, and it’s precisely how I imagined Malus to sound. It’s a shame that the N64 wasn’t capable of showcasing a ton of voice acting, since both Harald Gjerde and Andrew Hankinson have phenomenal voices and would honestly make great voice actors. Harald has actually stated that if they were to remake this game at any point, he would gladly lend his voice to the character. Let’s remain hopeful that it eventually happens.
