NFS MW was a legendary game since the day of it’s release, and today i’m gonna tell you why

about the game:
When Need for speed most wanted released back in 2005, for pc, ps2, xbox and nintendo gamecube, it attempted to combine content from all previous nfs games. It brought back police chases, and different race modes.

Story:
You arrive in Rockport city as a new street racer, with a shiny BMW m3 gtr. You meet Mia townsend, and engage in a friendly race through the city to test each other’s driving ability. You built up your reputation to race the 15th blacklist member: Razor. and, well he’s a dick. The blacklist is a list of 15 best racers in Rockport. You race him while getting chased by police, but halfway through your car breaks. Sergeant cross arrests you, but you get out of jail early due to a lack of evidence. You find out that razor messed with your car at the start. Because you lost the race, razor took your car. Mia helps you purchase a new ride, and you work your way up the blacklist to eventually beat razor and get your BMW back.

Graphics: the game looked *okay* for 2005. the texture quality isn’t the best and it seems that 2005 was the year that bloom was discovered. However, the cars look pretty good even by modern standards. The reflection quality was top notch for it’s time.

Gameplay:
This game is mainly oriented around police chases, hence the name most wanted. Ea introduced new race modes, including the tollbooth race, where you have to get to a checkpoint before the time runs out. During races, you often encounter police and have to lose them when the race is over. The whole game is oriented around the blacklist. You beat racers an work your way up. before you can challenge a racer, you have to complete certain requirements, including bounty, which you get in police chases and by completing milestones.

Your car has a heat level. The higher the heat level, the more you will get chased by police. modifying your car can lower your heat level. That moves us onto the next point: modification. This has a pretty similar modification system as carbon: it’s not quite as advanced as nfs undeground, where you can customize everything from underglow to speakers. There are four levels of body kits, and a wide selection of rims, hoods, and vinyls and spoilers. for performance, you can upgrade your turbo, engine, nitro, transmission, suspension, brakes. This is a pretty good range, but i certainly wish they kept the Underground customization system. Because of customization, you can turn even a stock golf into a supercar-slayer.

Driving in this game is easy to pick up, just like in all arcade racing games. However, mastering it can take quite some time. There are a lot of narrow shortcuts and corners that require good reaction time. In races, bots are generally slow at the start, but can catch up extremely quickly is they are falling behind. There is a variety of race modes: tollbooth, speedtrap, circuit, sprint, lap knockout and the hated drag. Drag is oriented mainly around shifting, and there are preset paths you can take. however, the ai seems to want to purposefully bash you into traffic.

MW has a HUGE map that you fully unlock over time. it is very fun to just drive around and explore the city.

Police chases are mandatory, and therefore common. almost after every race you end up getting chased by cops. at first, they are very easy to lose and sometimes you end up chasing THEM. however, if you’re not careful, you can quickly rack up bounty and end up getting chased by a helicopter. police can deploy spike strips, roadblocks, and even heavy SUVs to ram you off the road. if you’re not careful, you can end up being trapped, and therefore busted. when that happens, you gotta pay the fine, which is usually microscopic.

Conclusion: This game was and still is one of the best in the NFS series, and my personal favorite. It had a pretty long and engaging story, great atmosphere and a very fun driving experience.
