NFS World (WUGG) : BMW M3 GTR ALMS the Hard Meta Car That Didn't Get a Chance to Shine
"This car is utter garbage, it's drifty and unusable!" Were the words of ThunderTHR as well as a lot of other players both skilled and beginner. But what if I told you that with the right tune, it can be a fast car, just as fast as a meta car when tuned and driven right. My initial thought about the car was also the same, but after driving the car for a couple weeks finding the most fitting tune for both me and the players I play with as well as being comfortable with the car, it is clear that it is a meta car but a difficult meta car to drive being it is a "High Risk High Reward" car meaning that tuning this car and driving the car properly gives you the abilities to keep up with the bad boys of A class. So to put it to a test, I chose not only lower meta cars, the 997 and the Nismo, but I also chose tracks that benefit those 2 cars but negatively affect the ALMS to show how close the ALMS can get compared to the 2. Like usual, only consistent runs are taken, not the best runs.
The perks of the car is that its acceleration is just as strong as a Nismo as well as a really strong nitrous mixed with a monster launch that essentially leaves even the best meta cars off of the line without hesitation. The cornering speeds is also very good and has a pretty good top speed and top end acceleration. The problems sadly that even a good tune can't fix is that it is still drifty around corners so a lot of counter steering is required so time can be potentially lost on some sections. Time is also lost when the car takes jumps as it stays airborne slightly longer than your average car as well as it suffers from landing with it losing a good bit of speed from landing.
When I first found the tune and told ThunderTHR and Boo (WorldUnited dev), they made fun of me saying that the setup BGGGRB isn't good as they say green suspensions and blue tires are "Useless compared to GGGRRR". This is the main problem as to why everyone turns down the ALMS. Everyone thinks that GGGRRR is the perfect setup for every car in the game or sticking to just one color but in reality, every car doesn't do that. This car is a good example for that being that the green suspensions for this car helps with stability on high speeds and blue tires to help a bit prevent drifting.
Also, it irritates me that people judge based off of a first impression instead of the whole picture. The Cayenne and the 993 are good examples of this situation. Now it's the ALMS but not only is it not getting the right recognition but also its not a top tier meta car like the Cayenne.
Sidenote : In the middle of the recording for the first test track I forgot to mute my Discord and someone messaged me. I honestly wasn't expecting a message late at night so I didn't close my Discord or mute it. The server is also going through some pretty bad desync between players so I decided to do the tests in Singleplayer instead of Multiplayer.
