[Nintendo 64 Archive] - Hercules: The Legendary Journey - Part 8 - Fire-Breathing Dragon and Ares
The final part of our Hercules documentation. Heading to Mount Olympus to take on the fire breathing dragon and stop ares once and for all.
Note: Im sure that the first time I was using the bow it told me how that secondary aim with the reticle worked and I just missed it. So much wasted time on the Dragon :P
Secondary note: That Ares fight, until he splits into three anyways, is a little underwhelming compared to the other battles in the game. Was more or less just a fight again a bunch of regular enemies.
In saying that having to fight three at a time, with three separate health bars, and having my health taken out by about a quarter when I get hit. Not being able to get health replenished because they attack to quickly. Thats rough. If I hadn't found that exploit with the stairs I dont think I woulda gotten him down as quick as I did.

Overall Game Notes:
The combat was a little basic and sloppy in parts. The Minotaur battles were a real pain (as well as the dungeons leading up to them). The amount of backtracking was a bit of a pain.
Some of the puzzles could have been better explained. Needing all of the Medallions kinda sucks. There aren't a lot of towns, but getting money isn't always easy; grinding it can take a bit. It would have been better if you just needed the Zeus Medallion given for defeating the three Minotaur's and the Titan. There could have been a cool bonus or something for getting all of the medallions. An attack boost or something? Would help with the final battle.
However, there are a lot of good elements to this game too. I, for the most part, really enjoyed all the different areas. The beaches, the snowy mountain village, all of it looked quite nice and atmospheric.
The music, mostly, was another thing I enjoyed. Some of it was a little repetitive, but I could see myself throwing some of the tracks into a gaming playlist.
Overall I would say that the game isn't perfect, but honestly isn't as bad as I would have expected it to be. I may not play it often, but I am glad I did play it.
