This was GOING to be my No-Hit run, but honestly? Elden Stars can piss off. I'm actually annoyed that hit me when things were going so well. Radagon was fun as hell to learn and actually fair. Elden Beast though? This ain't no Moon Presence who was cooler than he was hard, but a fun fight at the end of BB. This is a slog after a very fun fight beforehand.
I used to try to fight Radagon more normally before I realized how annoying EB is. EB is so annoying I began a hyper precise procedure to take Radagon out in like 30 seconds because I was so annoyed with EB right after.
Either way, did it with 10 Vigor.
Maybe I'll figure out a No-Hit some other time, but I really do not care for Elden Beast at all. Radagon is cool. Elden Beast is annoying as hell, and whoever designed that attack really needs to cool it with the ridiculous spell tracking spamfests. I'm not sure if it's a huge gamebreaker for a normal run, but for a no-hit run it's a pain. Elden Stars just never stops following you, fires chip damage out, and all of it follows you for a million years. It's also way faster than you are. Even if I didn't die, I'm annoyed it hit me :(
You'd have to prevent the spell from ever happening or just get lucky.
Fires of the Red Mane could maybe do it if you just used it every chance you got, but at this point, I'm not really going to aim to no-hit Elden Beast. I really do not like their fight at all. It's just not very fun.
Radagon should have been a separate fight so I could enjoy it more tbh. Maybe then I wouldn't hate EB so much. I get WHY they are back to back from a story standpoint, it's just not very fun to do.
What a shame. I hope DLC gives us a better final fight.
That said I love the story going on here. Elden Ring's story is something I really really love, clearly if you watch my playthrough. I just wish this otherwise cool as hell and intriguing moment wasn't marred by this dreadfully designed encounter that could have at least used Torrent as an option to dodge some BS. I know Torrent is a risky thing to use because of the hitboxes, I still find their dodge insanely useful in situations like with Elden Stars flying around.
Bleh.
Regardless, the fact is, you do not need to level vigor. I've gone through a ton of this game without any. I basically set it to 10 and said whatever, let's learn the new moves.
My findings?
This game is beatable with ANY build. ANY.
This game has a TON of cheese. Good cheese. Fun cheese. I love it as a Demon's Souls veteren.
Bosses in this game are 100% tuned to Spirit Ashes. They are absolutely balanced for some form of co-op. They have ridiculous combos and can change targets and tracking in ways that by design feel like it's expecting more than one character to fight. The damage and aggressiveness of the late-game fights is pretty high for this series. Is it possible to ashless solo + no-hit and/or power through? Yeah. Absolutely. Anyone can.
That said, is it going to be a great time if you do it how I did it? Uuuuuhhh... Maybe? I had fun (Except for EB). Level vigor if you want. Just know if you want to do more damage instead of have health, it can work. You might hate life, but it can work.
