OMORI’s getting a Prequel
2,328Omori fans have speculated about some of the less obvious dynamics between mari and Sunny that are alluded to in the story and no I don’t mean the art that you're thinking of, I mean stuff like the time Sunny almost drowned in the lake, and the theories surrounding them regarding Mari being overly controlling.
Perhaps these are topics that will be covered in OMORI Before, a prequel mod that predictably, takes place before the events of the original game. In addition to having more of a spotlight on Mari this time around and adding some context to past events, there's new mechanics being implemented too. In addition to every character having three tiers of emotion now like sunny, the effects are amplified more times over, meaning choosing the right mood for each battle will play a bigger role than it ever did in the original game. OMORI fans actually have a big advantage over the omocat developers here since they’ve had the luxury of hindsight regarding the vanilla games balance, so they're able to use that knowledge to fine tune their mods to perfection. However, there’s a caveat to this more intense emotion system though, and it’s the burnout mechanic. Basically using these newfound really powerful emotions comes with the cost that using an emotion too much too quickly will lock you out of that emotion for a certain amount of time.
