SITUATION
On January 16, 1991, President George H. W. Bush announced the start of what would be called Operation Desert Storm—a military operation to expel occupying Iraqi forces from Kuwait, which Iraq had invaded and annexed months earlier. The deadline for withdrawal has already passed with no reaction from Iraq, so coalition forces have begun airstrikes of Iraqi command and control targets from air and sea. Despite widespread fears that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein might order the use of chemical weapons, a ground invasion has already begun.

Saddam Hussein has ordered SCUD missile launches against Israel in order to force other Middle Eastern countries such as Saudi Arabia to withdraw from the conflict. The White House is concerned that if these SCUD missile launches continue, Israel will likely respond with a full nuclear strike against Iraq.

MISSION
SEAL Team V is tasked with engaging Iraqi military through the Diyala region. Command wants to us to destroy a comms tower to the west. Secondly, two oil refineries to the north are occupied by Iraqi Ground Forces (IGF). Command has tasked us with disrupting enemy forces and expelling them from the refineries. Be very careful to not accidentally engage civilians. The politicians want to preserve the lives and moral of the Iraqi residents living in the area. These missions will deny Iraqi HQ communications and fuel to the SCUD missiles. This is in preparation of further tasking to SEAL Team Six members who will eventually destroy the Russian made SCUD missiles.
