Pac-Man World Re-PAC: Part 2: Ghost Island Hub & Corsair's Cove
0The Ghost Island hub has been completely redesigned. Instead of each area being lined up in a mostly linear path, the island now works itself like an island.
The Pirate Ship area you start in is in the bottom-center, while the Ruins and Space areas are side-to-side from it. Clear all three of these areas, and you unlock the next "floor", which has the Funhouse and Factory areas. Beat those, and you can reach the final Mansion area at the top.
To further save time on traversing towards these areas in the hub, you can also use teleporters that will immediately send you into an unlocked area. Also in the Pirate Ship area, you can play unlocked Mazes and even play the Jukebox DLC if you have it.
The levels of this hub also provide helpful information of what they can have in them before you start them, such as a Key, a Galaxian, the PACMAN letters, and whether or not a missing friend is in that level, which you'll need the Key for.

Starting on Corsair's Cove, if you having already noticed in Buccaneer Beach, Pac-Man's swimming controls have changed. In the PS1 version, he can float in place, but here, if you don't do anything with your face buttons, he will automatically just sink to the bottom. You now have to tap or hold your Jump button to make him rise in the water.
Tapping Jump will make him rise quicker, but this change in controls will make it slightly harder to swim through underwater hazards sitting under you.

You still need a Galaxian in order to unlock a new Maze to play, and you will automatically play that Maze, too. The biggest difference here is that Pac-Man will now die from one hit, whether its from the Ghosts or any hazards within the maze, itself. Some version of Pac-Man World 2 also had this, and this all just lines up with how the original Pac-Man game dealt with hits.
I guess to compensate this, the Super Pac-Man form you can get in this remake will still be invincible during these Mazes.

All of Pac-Man's friends are once again trapped in cages. You need a Key to get to them, but the Fruit Doors that guard these Keys can no longer be unlocked by any kind of fruit that it wants. It has to be a wrapped fruit. For this level's case, you need to find the Wrapped Apple.

Getting all six letters of PACMAN still takes you to a Bonus Round. Get all the fruit that you can out of these to get more points, and potentially more 1-UPs, but be aware of the free 1-UPs you could also find, here.

As of this point, I still haven't figured out the rhythm of getting 3 Galaxians in the Slot Bonus, but I do figure out one pattern you can try to remember later.
