3The 2016 role-playing video game Persona 5 was created by Atlus. The Persona series, which is a subset of the wider Megami Tensei franchise, has released its sixth episode. It was published by Atlus in Japan and North America and by Deep Silver in PAL territories, and it was made available for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in Japan in September 2016 and globally in April 2017. Persona 5 Royal, an improved version with new material that was published by Atlus in Japan and distributed globally by parent company Sega, was made available for the PlayStation 4 in Japan in October 2019 and globally in March 2020. Later, in October 2022, Royal was made available on the Xbox One, Windows, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
The game is set in contemporary Tokyo and centers on a high school student who changes schools after being wrongfully convicted of assault and placed on probation. He and other students develop a special power over the course of a school year, forming a clandestine vigilante organization known as the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. The narrative of the game is compelling and addresses ideas like justice, freedom, and rebellion.
