I first played Persona 5 in 2018 on a whim. I had never heard anything about the game or the series for that matter before that point, and only really got it cause it was on sale at a gamestop. To my surprise, the game was far better than I ever could have imagined, so much so that its became my favorite game ever made. So you can imagine my excitement when I learned that shortly after I had finished the base game, we would be getting two new Persona 5 related games, an updated rerelease of the game with Persona 5 Royal, and a spin off continuing the story of the original game, known as Persona 5 Strikers. Calling Strikers nothing more than a spin off feels pretty disingenuous, as in reality it feels more like an evolution of the original game both in terms of its plot and its gameplay. It has a completely different vibe than most of the Persona spin offs, and in a lot of ways feels more like a full blown sequel rather than just a spin off. Today I want to look at exactly how it archives that and sets itself apart from other series spin offs. Join me as we take a deep dive into Persona 5 Strikers.
