Spacious campsites, miles of trails, and a scenic river -that's what you'll find at Powhatan State Park located in Powhatan, Virginia. The campground is small with just 29 water and electric sites and three yurts. You'll also find nine hike in/ canoe in primitive campsites just off of the James River, the historic James River as we learned.

What we love about Powhatan State Park:
1. Spacious, private campsites
2. Miles of trails for hiking, biking, or horseback riding
3. Trails are well marked
4. Scenic woods, fields, river
5. Old cemetery
6. Miles of park roads
7. Kayak/ canoe launch sites
8. Quiet and peaceful
9. Clean, private showers

What we didn't love about Powhatan State Park:
1. Dump station is far away from the campground if you have to empty a portable waste tote.

If you want to get away from it all, head to Powhatan State Park for a peaceful stay.
