Programmer Turns IBM 1620 Mainframe Into Baseball Simulator!
This is the story of the first computer baseball game ever made. In 1961, IBM programmer John Burgeson combined his love of baseball with his love for computers by training his IBM 1620 mainframe data processing computer to run baseball simulations based on calculated statistics from previous performances. John Burgeson is considered by many to be the true grandfather of fantasy baseball as well -- since his simulation pitted MLB All Stars from all generations at the time against one another.
