[PS3 Archive] Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara (The Super SD 4:3 Edition)
Yeaaaaaaaaah, I forgot to change my settings from Standard Def to AT LEAST 720P before I started recording so..... Well, this archival footage is in 4:3. And In Standard Definition. Maybe I'll rerecord at some point. But right now is not that time.
In any event, this is an Archive of my playthrough of Dungeons and Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara on the Playstation 3. Chronicles of Mystara is a compilation of two different D&D Arcade games: Dungeons and Dragons: Towers of Doom (1994) and Dungeons and Dragons: Shadow Over Mystara (1996).
I have never been an avid Beat Em Up gamer; my only real experience being with Golden Axe back in the day. However, I do enjoy them.
If I was actually playing this in the arcade it would have cost a pretty penny. If we were talking a quarter a credit, Shadow Over Mystara would have cost me 8.00$ (Thats actually less than I thought) at 32 continues and Towers of Doom would have cost me 11.00$ at 44 continues. A grand total of 19.00$ if I played both at the same time. (Fun fact: 8.00$ in 1996 would have been 15.64$. 11.00$ in 1994 would be 22.77$)
Overall I would say that Towers of Doom has aged fairly poorly. It's slow, it's clunky, it's an arcade game through and through. A real quarter muncher. Shadows of Mystara, on the other hand, I could see myself coming back to every now and again. While dying in Towers of Doom made me feel dread, dying in Shadows of Mystara didn't feel as awful; probably because you did damage to everything on the screen and got all your magic back.
