0Here are my thoughts on FFVII Remake. They're my opinions, so take them with a grain of salt. I'm glad I played it, but I probably won't dust it off again.
Gameplay - 8.5/10
- Boss fight interruptions erased progress and caused frustration
- Too much hand-holding made exploration feel less rewarding
- Weapon upgrade interface felt super tedious
Writing - 7/10
- While characters were mostly excellent, Barret got the short end of the stick
- Some secondary characters exhibited no relevance whatsoever
- The whispers were way too heavy-handed and contrived
- So many sections overstayed their welcome and contributed to tedious pacing
- Player choices mostly affected cosmetics and had little to no impact on the narrative
