Played this back on the day on 3DS, I was certainly more easily impressed by games then than I am now. Supposedly this is the best version, and I am sure I will play many other versions to know for sure myself... one day that is, could take a while to get to those... actually I already did the GBC one on stream (finished that game twice) and it's probably the most unique of all of them. Now this is my second time playing this "version" since the 3DS game is apparently the Dreamcast game.

Anyway this game has aged really well, more than something like Super Mario 64 (although I don't know how this game plays on N64) although I do like Mario 64 more still. This Dreamcast version is very smooth and looks great and the game functions pretty much just as intended. This game doesn't have a lot of the things I dislike about 3D platformers, mainly forced collectibles (this has optional), also it's just level-to-level stuff which I prefer over the open worlds of other games. Not any padding in this game really. I see 0 reason why I would want to go after all 1,000 Lum's. As for what I don't like, well the game was certainly far more enjoyable in the previous stream as this stream had the lame final boss as well as the awful level where you control a ship. For the most part this game is good with gameplay variety but that ship level was truly, truly terrible (also the music is like 5 seconds long then loops, soundtrack in this game was really lacking imo) Felt like they saved the worst parts of the game for last. While this game is quality, there's nothing to really elevate it further, there's nothing particularly badass about the game, even Rayman Raving Rabbids is more badass in a lot of ways. Since I played Rayman Origins not too long ago I can say that I probably like that title more than this one, before this was my favorite. Need to replay Legends and also play 1 + 3 for the first time. This game can feel like there's not enough gameplay density at times and there's pretty much no challenge, the only parts where there's any challenge are those gimmicky sections where you're riding something and you die in 1 hit, and those sections are certainly not strengths of the game.

I looked forward to playing this game which is why I chose to play it over Heracles GB today. Which isn't saying much since Heracles GB is truly terrible. Sadly I was underwhelmed this session compared to last, I don't think mood has much to do with it but rather the design was lacking in these parts and there wasn't really anything new or interesting to see. Still a quality title, just not as good as I once thought/or remembered.

Personal rating: 3 / 5 (Cool)
