If you strafe and roll off of a ledge, it allows you to kick in mid-air. Kicking makes Rayman's hitbox smaller which allows him to clip through angled walls if he rolls off of a ledge into them. You can also activate first-person as you're kicking in mid-air and you're also able to jump in mid-air after your roll animation ends. RSJs can go slightly higher because of the fact that you can jump in mid-air after kicking.
