So, to expand on a few things.

First off. I want to re iterate that this video is not being made to attack fans of Bioshock infinite. I tried to add some text on screen to clarify, but when I say something about pretentious galaxy brains and reddit atheists, I'm talking about a specific kind of fan and also journalists and stuff.

I do want to try to get some of the game's actual fans on and talk about it.

I know that I gave the impression that I just think that everyone that likes this game is dumb or something. Of course I'm playing it up for the video, but beyond that I don't just hate people just for liking the game.

I wasn't even sure if I wanted to re post the links I already posted in the let's play itself. But I figured they'd be relevant to address again.

In regards to the comment being made about how Bioshock infinite is just super influential and that stuff. But here's the influence it makes. While Bioshock infinite wasn't the only game that pushed this trend, but I'm so tired of the pretentious walking sequences and "It's not a game script. It's a script" type attitude that's become more common and infinite was one of the games that contributed to it.

Mathewmatosis made an analogy at the end of his video how he mentioned that praising games like Bioshock infinite will negatively impact the industry by dumbing basically everything down. He explained it very well with his space invaders analogy.

He also commented on the lowest common denominator gameplay as well as game journalists (which I've paraphrased as reddit atheists) needing to evangelize the game to for the sake of their own ego.


I'd also like to address Charlatan Wonder's comments. Mainly, he commented on how this game is an enabler to other lazy games/devs to make terrible endings and lazy copouts that don't explain any of it. And the lazy terrible endings can be presented as intelligent and giving you something to think about.

Remember how bad the mass effect 3, Shadow the hedgehog, Sonic 06, or homefront endings were?

Well, Bioshock infinite did the same thing everyone else hated. And thanks to all the praise this game got, that kind of lazy writing became way more common anyway.

After watching it, I am a lot more in line with him than I was innitially. I'm a lot more annoyed about the way Joe is acting. While I can understand Joe wanting to take a break and stuff, it's annoying that he just can't explain anything to his fans honestly. Also, it's funny that he talked about Anita Sarkeesian and how he'd like women being developed more and contributing more than just throwing resources at the player. And then he praised Elizabeth in this game for just throwing resources at the player. Such hypocrisy.
