Research Story is a farming sim set in a fantasy world. You play as a newly-recruited researcher, tasked to observe and learn the truth behind the sightings of exotic plants and creatures around the region.
Inspired by farming-sim classics like Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley, Research Story presents a colourful world where players can grow crops, raise creatures, and forge friendships.
The game builds on the genre by including crop management mechanics (crops with varied growth requirements), creature taming and raising, and adorably, a creature-following mechanic where your tamed creatures help you explore and farm.
Discover and record plants and creatures at various locations around Shimmerbrook, and contribute your findings to the Archive.
Grow crops, learn about the conditions they thrive in, and plan your farm layout accordingly!
Tame and raise creatures! In turn, your creatures will give you perks to help you with farming and exploration.
Go fishing, and you might find some interesting items for research!
Build the perfect farm based on the needs of your plants and creatures!
Craft items to customize your farm!
Befriend townsfolk through conversations, going on dates, and completing quests! From a druid whose family has lived for generations in the mountains, to a featherfolk whose first job is in this new town - many characters await in Shimmerbrook!
