The action of Resistance 3 takes place in an alternate universe in the 1950s, in which America is captured and destroyed by a deadly race of Chimeras, and the survivors are forced to hide in shelters. Among them is the main character of the game, Joseph Capelli, his wife and son. When Dr. Malikov arrives to the survivors with a desperate plan to attack the enemies, Capelli is forced to go with him, leaving his family.

In Resistance 3 players are waiting for an epic single-player campaign, a cooperative mode for two through split screen and online, as well as multiplayer, supporting up to 16 players at the same time. In addition, the game has support for the Move motion controller and 3D technology.
