Parodius is a 1992 side-scrolling shooter, developed by Konami. Based on their Gradius and TwinBee series of shoot-em-ups, Parodius takes those ideas and takes a humorous turn.

Although it would release in Europe on the Super Nintendo and PS1, Parodius has generally been overlooked in America, even though there's quite a lot to look at here.

So, is this a good way to get into the shoot-em-up genre? Does its cartoonish style detract from the games from which it sources its ways? And, most crucially...is it worth importing?
