Who is he? What happened? A 3 minute video trying to explain...

Script:
So I’m scrolling through reddit and i come across this clip:

And I was like: “Did I just watch a skier die?”

But on re-watching the video, like the sicko I am, I noticed a few things:

The “lucky” placement of the seats…the driver is wearing a helmet… the fact that even though it looks like glass breaking there is no windshield…

So then I’m like: it must be some kind of stunt….but where did the guy land?

And so that only changed my question to “Did I just watch a stuntman die?”

Happily the answer is no…

The footage shows Evgeny Chebotarev, a former landscaper and now self taught stuntman from Russia, where else,

And is one of four clips posted to his must follow Instagram account showing the stunt…

Here’s the clip that gives us the best understanding of the stunt: we see Chebotarev lying on a wooden frame and a van is driven straight at him at 50mph.

So aside from the little jump and smashing into the road he’s not actually doing any flying through the air…

Still, it’s a display of insane bravery and trust

And it’s also a great illustration of physics and would make a great math puzzles:

A Russian man stands still and a car drives toward him at 50mph. How much vodka would it take you to do the same?

Stereotypes aside, what makes Chebotarev all the more interesting is that he’s done similar stuff before…just with smaller margins of error and zero protective headgear…

[reaction face guy]

And then when you think it can’t get any more astounding:

Chebotarev reportedly broke his spine just four months ago

In September 2021 made 40m jump over a river in an old skool BMW but hit the deck too hard and broke his lower back…and had lost feeling in his legs

In posts soon after the event he talked about how his career was over and his life was changed…

Fans rallied to his aid, crowdfunding his medical bills and apparently he received some top notch care because within a few weeks of the accident he announced his near miraculous recovery:

[Snatch reference]

It’s truly amazing stuff…I’m not advocating it as a profession but I admire his tenacity: the guy had a career ending, life altering injury that might have caused anyone to throw in the towel and he was like “nah, Imma keep going” and goes on to get his biggest video hit yet…

I’ve placed links to his socials in the comments below…I rate it’s well worth the follow and a watch…

I’m dying to see what the madman gets up to next

And I am Praying that it is a team up with Hasbulla…

Hasbulla can drive, Chebotarev can get out the way…actually might be a bit too dangerous…

Maybe they can do a much more extreme version of hasbulla’s balloon stunt?

Let me know what you think of the van stunt, and Chebotarev ’s story in the comments below. Is it heroic and inspirational or am I reading to much into it?

…oh And don’t forget that math homework…
