While Nike definitely got most of the attention in their decision to phase out kangaroo leather football boots, Puma was actually the first football boot brand to actually do it. The King Ultimate's K-Better upper is Puma's attempt at simulating natural kangaroo leather, and while it certainly has some leather-like qualities, my impression of them was that they felt more like thin "speed" boots, than traditional leather ones. That's not a bad thing, just not what I what I was hoping for. Well, they've already got version 2!
In today's video we take a closer look at the limited edition Puma King Ultimate Rudagon, boots released to celebrate Puma's 75th anniversary, but also ones that feature an alternate version of K-Better synthetic! More padding and a unique Lazertouch surface texturing make these football boots feel a lot more like the Nike Tiempo Legend 10 Elite than the standard King Ultimate does. This of course begs the question, how do they compare? Should Nike be worried?
