Shovel Knight - Caz (NOW PLAYING)
No shovel justice was delivered in the following video. Only Shovel vengeance.

As you may have noticed, video production has been rather slow as of late. To compensate for this, two new series will be launched to fill in the dead-time while I work on the lengthier reviews you all (hopefully) love. The first of these series, Now Playing, will be closer to a first impression/game quickie series that highlights a title I am or was recently playing that may be worth checking out. To launch this series, Caz takes a look at the recently released indie darling, Shovel Knight, currently available on 3DS, Wii U and the glorious PC master race's Steam servers. As a fan of Wayforward's (sometimes) wonderful games, does Shovel Knight deliver a title that rivals Yacht Club Games' former development ? Or should you hold out for a certain half-genie hero to fulfill your kick-ass kickstarter retro throwback needs? Tune in to this week's review (sort of) of Shovel Knight to find out!
Also, in the video, I failed to mention another complaint I had: The one-hit death spikes. There is no reason for these to exist when a bottomless pit serves the same function. They only exist because Mega Man included them, which is odd because they were never a particularly ingenious contributor to the level design in the Mega Man series. It's obtuse design that, like the armor that prevents backlash, should have been abandoned in the past like so many other outdated traits Shovel Knight decided to do away with, like the lives system.
