Skyrim 100% Maximized Legendary Playthrough - 429. Exploring the Hjaalmarch Swamp Part 5
1Slowly but surely we're getting through the Hjaalmarch swamp. We start the day at the bridge in Morthal, and we explore everything north and west of the path that leads from the bridge over to Movarth's Lair. From there we explore the large island just to the north of the mainland. I know I said last time that we were finishing up all the islands, but I mistakenly thought this bit of land was connected to the mainland. It's a little hard to tell from the map, but it is in fact a rather large island. On it we find a secondary location - the Collapsed Burial Ground. Besides a chest and an urn, there are two draugr corpses peaking out of the rubble, one of which is holding a skill book.
It's nighttime once we finish this and I'm not eager to explore more swamp in the dark, so we decide to take care of a minor encounter. We're getting close to Kjenstag Ruins, and there's a special encounter that can be had there. If you go there at night (8 PM to 5 AM), a ghost will appear at the entrance and start running. If you follow it, it will lead you to a secondary location known as the Ghost Barrow where two bandits are grave robbing a Nordic tomb. The encounter can be a little fiddly, and it takes us a reload before the ghost appears. In addition, when we get to the barrow, the bandits have run up the mountain, probably chasing after some animal. The reward for this encounter is that the door on the ground leading to the sarcophagus will be open, and inside is some nice loot.
We return to Kjenstag, but the only other item of interest there is a chest behind the wall. We then head down to the river that Morthal lies on and explore all the islands to the east of the bridge. That leads us back to the bridge itself, which is where we'll continue next time.
