8Getting started in Smalland: Survive the Wilds with Robert and Jesse. I was not prepared for what the game had in store for us.
My friends bugged me (pun intended) to get Smalland about a week ago as of uploading this video. By their description, it sounded like most other survival crafting games but with the twist of being tiny creatures in a forest - sounded a lot like Grounded to me. I thought it would be whatever. It. Was. Not. Whatever. If you had asked me a week ago if I was particularly squeamish about insects, I probably would've told you "only as much as the next guy". I would have been wrong. This game, with it's excellent sound design, very well done models, and bugs that are always just a little bit faster than you, has shown me that I am absolutely terrified of bugs. Thanks, Smallands.
Though Jesse and Robert have already started and have a base set up high in the trees, getting me there turns out to be quite a nightmare. After a hilarious bout of tomfoolery, funny moments abound, we decide it's time to start exploring more of what this game has to offer. Boy, does it have a lot more than I'd like for it to have to offer.
