Somari & Sonic 3D Blast 5 - Nintendo NES (Pirate) Gameplay Review

What do you get when you downgrade Sonic the Hedgehog and put Mario in it? You get Somari, a crappy Chinese pirated game for the NES (or Famicom if you're in Japan). Complete with Poor hit detection, weird graphics, ear raping music, cheap deaths (slow and painful ones too), poor controls, and more... This pirate was made by the Somari Team in 1994. This team would later change their name to the Hummer Team and make some well known pirates such as Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country for the NES. They even used this engine and made an actual Sonic 1 clone with Sonic on it but starting at Spring Yard Zone for some reason, it was called Sonic 3D Blast 5 and gameplay of it is featured on the second half of the video starting at 16:40. They did some other edits and repackaging of Somari such as one called Family Kid which isn't featured in the video but it has different characters and such. The games were played on a real NES system using an Everdrive N8 Flash Cart. Maybe someday when or if I have the patience, I might take another stab at this and see if I can get further.
This video was originally uploaded 4/15/16 to my old channel, but I decided to redo the voiceover because the original one had a lot of background noise and the overall quality was really bad.
