The story so far:

Tails by himself ventures to Angel Island and discovers Eggman is doing cool stuff like setting forests on fire and making carnivals. So Tails heads to see the Egglarge himself because as a man of science, Tails hopes to learn some stuff from him. However, Knuckles hates Tails because he's a mutant freak and constantly tries to rip off one of his tails along the way. Tails finally reaches Eggerl's egg launch egg base where during an attempt to speak at Eggbert, Tails accidentally crashes the Egg Star. Tails is now sad and goes to seek out Sonic to see if he can negotiate better with the Eggham.

Meanwhile, Knuckles, still depressed about not fixing Tails, is assaulted by Robotnik! Knuckles, seeking to press charges, heads to Sandopolis to see the court wizard. A restraining order is then placed on Robotnik, but because of his lack of email or P.O. box, Knuckles must deliver it to him himself for it to have any effect. Finally, Knuckles reaches Robotnik, but just as he's about to hand him the restraining order, Mecha Sonic comes out of nowhere and destroys Robotnik! As a reward Knuckles gives Mecha Sonic the master emerald, which promptly causes the floor to explode and Knuckles to fall to his doom. Luckily, Knuckles is saved by a passing plane driven by none other than his new buddy, Mecha Sonic! Or so he thought at least...

Tails managed to drag Sonic along with him to see Egghart! On the way they accidentally pick up some red echidna hitchhiker (Knuckles!) and proceed to dump him in the woods somewhere. And Eggmom, desperately trying to recreate his Egg Star, is retracing his steps and making sure he does the exact same procedure as before. Step one, of course, is burning down a forest for no reason. Thankfully it completely grew back in a matter of days so no worries! Knuckles, now realizing that wasn't his buddy Mecha Sonic, but an impostor jerk, seeks his revenge!!!
