Want a visual novel that delivers a truly rousing adventure? Then check out this Cheapness affordable gaming review of Sorcery! Parts 1 & 2 [Episode 66]

This visual novel adaptation of Steve Jackson's adventure books was developed by Inkle and this review shows how:
-The game has a nice 3d-effect map (With kind of a boardgame feel as you drag your character token across it, towards the choice flags), decent combat and dice sketches but somewhat dated descriptive drawings in between the text with a rather unpleasant quality (The video review thumbnail shows a good example) and makes the mostly text on paper feel like a worn textbook on occasion (Well at least they may be the original drawings)
-Not much music (Mostly just one combat track I believe) but the atmospheric audio is good and helps to bolster your imagination (Perhaps not many unique examples of sounds but they work to build the setting: this place is wet, this place is busy etc.)
-No voice acting though so you have to read the masses of text but fans of the visual novel probably expect that
-A lot of choices to make... some with far reaching consequences (For instance picking up a key in part 1 and using it in part 2 but both instances are miss able I believe)
-Unique combat system that is based on math and using logic to determine the enemies' next action
-Fun dice game in part 2 that I truly believe is worth playing in real life (If we need to adapt it to work with real dice) although maybe take that with a grain of salt: I liked the dice poker in the first Witcher game!
-Spells are fun to cast as a few are available on various occasions and you don't always know how or if they will actually help (Sometimes the spell you cast can actually kill you!) and if you're choice was particularly effective it can be quite the jolt
-The game is surprisingly action packed for a visual novel because of these elements (Maybe there can be friction because you're reading descriptive text wondering what was the fate of your character and whether or not you succeeded)
-The descriptions are good and paint the picture but story-wise you focus more on moment-to-moment challenges rather than the quest as a whole
-Plus these two parts only take you halfway through the journey so if you don't own part 3 and 4 you have to be content with an incomplete journey (Although ending it here with what will they get up to next time isn't THAT bad because as said you focus less on the big end goal)
-The game has a rewind function that means it isn't that hard and not as replay able (Some will prefer that) and in part 2 it actually has a larger story function that's nice
