SPREADING DEMOCRACY ON LIBERTY DAY 2023
5OCTOBER 26TH IS LIBERTY DAY. A DAY WHERE WE REMEMBER THE GLORY OF SUPER EARTH AND ALL THE FREEDOM THAT MANAGED DEMOCRACY HAS BROUGHT US.
So in case you can’t tell, it’s a made up holiday (heresy, it’s real) in one of my favorite video game universes in the game Helldivers. Helldivers 2 is dropping early next year (thank goodness!), and it’s almost certainly going to be my personal game of the year as Helldivers 1 is my favorite cooperative game of all time. It had everything I could want in a co-op game, cross play, cross save, cross buy, couch co op, everything… All in a parody of Starship Troopers, my favorite movie. It’s self aware and just good old silly fun, much like EDF, but also ridiculously challenging.
I put in the work to 100% it on playstation, but have been smurfing almost every Sunday, on “Super Earth Sunday” each week until my job started to prevent it. I blame the Illuminate scum for psychically controlling my work schedule. That or clearly cyborg interference.
The game is brimming with personality and you can’t help but get caught up in role playing in this wild world. This first game is getting a little old and only top down, but the sequel is bound to make waves. If you’re interested, I’ve even broken down all of the trailers out of extreme excitement.
