Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back (1988) - Amiga - Let's Play - Gameplay - Domark
4"The Empire Strikes Back" is based on an arcade machine released by Atari in 1985. The game is a 3D space shooter and lets the player first fend off Imperial probe droids by destroying them and preventing them from revealing the location of the new rebel base to the Imperial fleet - and thus Darth Vader. However, the disaster can only be delayed and you find yourself in the middle of the battle of Hoth and try to prevent the destruction of the base for as long as possible, only to then escape with the Millenium Falcon through hordes of Tie Fighters and asteroids.
The Amiga conversion from 1988 shown here is quite good, even if the frame rate often drops, which can be seen very clearly in Sascha's two short game rounds.

"The Empire Strikes Back" (dt. „Das Imperium schlägt zurück“) basiert auf einem 1985 von Atari veröffentlichten Arcade-Automaten. Das Spiel ist ein 3D-Weltraum-Shooter und lässt den Spieler zuerst Imperiale Suchdroiden abwehren, in dem er diese zerstört und sie daran hindert, dass diese die Lage der neuen Rebellen-Basis der Imperialen Flotte - und damit Darth Vader - preisgibt. Jedoch lässt sich das Unheil nur hinauszögern und man findet sich mitten im Kampf von Hoth wieder und versucht die Zerstörung der Basis so lange wie möglich zu verhindern, nur um danach mit dem Rasenden Falken durch Horden von Tie Fightern und Asteroiden zu fliehen.
Die hier gezeigte Amiga-Konvertierung von 1988 ist gelungen, auch wenn die Framerate oft einbricht, was man in den beiden kurzen Spielrunden von Sascha sehr gut sehen kann.
